  • Excellent! – ACPT Logo (Brian’s Version)

    April 10th, 2026

    Grid Size: 17×11

This is a bit of a bittersweet post. I was supposed to attend the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament in Stamford, Connecticut this weekend, but unfortunately I came down with COVID. I’m disappointed that the trip is a no-go, but I’m still happy to share this themeless puzzle.

This is one in a series of nine crosswords constructed by Lil AVCX roster members, editors, and alums that uses the ACPT Logo as the grid. If you are lucky enough to be at the tournament, you should be able to pick up a copy of the complete set. Happy solving, and I hope to see a bunch of crossword folks in Philly next year!

  • Mini #218 – I’m Getting Tu Old for This

    August 19th, 2025

    Grid Size: 7 x 7

The inspiration for this puzzle was reading about 14-Across being added to the Cambridge Dictionary (along with “skibidi,” “tradwife” and 6,000+ other words). Since the entry at 1-Across has a similar letter pattern, I figured I could combine them into a mini puzzle and enter my “old man yells at cloud” era.

ICYMI, I had some wonderful puzzles come out in July, including ones at AVCX, Apple News+ (w/ Rafael Musa), the New York Times, and Universal. I’m also excited for a few more puzzles headed your way in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned. Happy solving!

  • Get Cracking! (w/ Geoffrey Schorkopf)

    July 11th, 2025

    Grid Size: 21×21
Difficulty: Not over(ly) easy, but not over(ly) hard

It’s been a hot minute since I posted a full-size puzzle on the blog. Apologies! To atone for it, I’m offering the first ever Sunday-size grid on this humble site. It’s a collaboration with Geoffrey Schorkopf called “Get Cracking!” Geoffrey and I met about a year and a half ago through the amazing Lil AVCX program and have since collaborated on puzzles that have appeared at the Universal Crossword, New York Times, Defector, and, as of July 2nd, Fireball.

Geoffrey says, “I always rush to solve when Brian posts a new Olio Grid. It’s an honor and a privilege to debut here. Happy solving!”

    I say, “Aw, thanks Geoff!”

We hope you enjoy! Oh, and be sure to check out the PDF, because it was fun to put my amateur design skills to the test.😉
